Bird Watching in Moray, Badenoch and Strathspey

What a wonderful opportunity is offered by the River Spey and Moray coast for this seemingly dull occupation. Once ones interest is awakened one becomes curious to learn more about these creatures - their habits and lifestyle. The extreme and varying weather conditions and landscape give rise to a great diversity of bird life, dictated by the ensuing conditions. The remoteness and inaccessibility of certain areas gives safe haven to many birds threatened with extinction For example the Golden Eagle and Osprey.

The kingfisher, a rare jewel bright sight, is also protected and the quiet river banks of the Spey provide abundant cover for this quicksilver bird. However, there are hundreds of species to be studied, together with the local gamebirds peculiar to these areas. Ample supplies of differing food types ensures the presence of the wide variety of birds to be found.

A truly rewarding hobby. Beware- one could become more seriously involved!
